Box Score

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State women's soccer remained undefeated at home after defeating Eastern Illinois, 2-0, Friday as Jessica Carlson scored twice for the Redbirds at Adelaide Street Field.

Carlson now leads the team in points with seven and goals with three. All three of Carlson's goals this season have been at home. Carlson's first goal of the game came was a header off a cross from Alyssa Schulz in the 13th minute of the game. Next, Carlson kicked the ball over EIU's goalie's head, scoring in the 49th minute.

"We did a nice job of connecting passes and keeping the ball," said head coach Drew Roff. "There are still some things we need to improve on. For the most part, we kept in their end and put the pressure on them. Jess really stepped up today. We need players who can make some plays in the final third and do some special things. Carlson has that skill."

The Redbirds (2-4-2) had ball possession most of the first half, outshooting the Panthers (3-3-2), 15-1. EIU's one and only shot in the half came 28 minutes into the game. As for the Redbirds, eight different players had shots in the half.

In total, the Redbird defense held the Panthers to only three shots on the game, while the Redbirds had 26.

Illinois State continues play this weekend in Chicago against DePaul Sunday at 1 p.m.
