NORMAL, Ill. -
Illinois State senior Stacey Miller was named Missouri Valley Conference Female Golfer of the Week Tuesday, along with Breanne Neufeld of Bradley. Miller placed second at the two-day Napa River Grill Cardinal Cup in Louisville, Ky.
"Stacey continues to impress me week in and week out," said head coach Darby Sligh. "Her consistency and her ability to not only save shots, but bounce back from adversity is what continues to put her at the top each week."
In the first-round on Monday, Miller fired an even-par 72 (36-36) with two birdies. During the second round, Miller carded five birdies on the front nine to earn a score of a 3-under-par 69 (31-38) and end the day in a tie for first place. Miller finished the third and final round with a 3-over-par 75 (37-38) to place second individually. Miller ended the two-day tournament with an even-par 216(72-69-75).
Illinois State came in fifth place out of the 12-team field with a team score of 904 (298-297-309).
