2009-10 ISU Women's Basketball Schedule
NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State women's basketball team has finalized its 2009-10 schedule. The Missouri Valley Conference portion of the Redbirds' schedule has been set, as well as times for the KCRG-TV9 Hawkeye Challenge.
Just like last season, the Redbirds open the Valley schedule with home games against Drake (Dec. 31) and Creighton (Jan. 2). The following weekend, ISU will look to avenge one of its two conference road losses from last year at Indiana State (Jan. 8). That game will be televised live on Fox Sports Midwest.
The Redbirds continue on the road with a rare Saturday-Monday swing against Wichita State (Jan. 16) and Missouri State (Jan. 18). ISU returns home to host Southern Illinois (Jan. 21) and defending MVC champion Evansville (Jan. 23), before closing out the first half of the conference schedule at Northern Iowa (Jan. 28) and Bradley (Jan. 31).
ISU has five of its final nine games at home in Redbird Arena. The Redbirds open the second half of the schedule against Indiana State (Feb. 6) and then host Wichita State (Feb. 12) and Missouri State (Feb. 14) the following weekend. ISU visits Evansville (Feb. 18) and Southern Illinois (Feb. 20), before finishing the regular-season home schedule with Bradley (Feb. 25) and Northern Iowa (Feb. 28).
For the second-consecutive season, the Redbirds finish the year with the Drake-Creighton road swing, facing the Bluejays (March 4) in their new arena and then the Bulldogs (March 6). The 2010 State Farm MVC Tournament will be held March 11-14 at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo.
The Redbirds open the season at the KCRG-TV9 Hawkeye Challenge in Iowa City, Iowa, Nov. 14-15. The Redbirds face UCLA at noon to open the tournament, followed by Iowa and Santa Clara at 2:30 p.m. The consolation and championship games are set for the same times the next day, with Iowa playing in the later game regardless.
