For the fourth time this season, the Illinois State women's soccer team will face a 2008 NCAA participant team when it travels to Morehead State Sunday. Sunday's game is set for a noon kickoff, but first, the Redbirds will travel to Indianapolis, Ind., to face Butler Friday at 1:30 p.m.

"We are looking forward to this weekend's games as our final tune-ups before Missouri Valley Conference play begins," said head coach Drew Roff. "We are starting to get as healthy as we've been all season, which is a good sign. Our goal for these two games is to focus on creating scoring chances and finding ways to be more dangerous. We know that in order for us to have success in the Valley, we need some players to step up and be more productive in the attack."

The Redbirds are 2-5-1 overall after a split weekend at home and Chicago. At home, the Redbirds tallied their second win of the season (Sept. 18) as they defeated Eastern Illinois, 2-0. Jessica Carlson scored a career high two goals in one game, helping Illinois State remain undefeated at home. Carlson leads the Redbirds on the season in goals with three and points with seven. In Chicago, ISU fell to DePaul 2-0 (Sept. 20), marking the Redbirds' fourth shutout loss this season.

"We have had some bumps and bruises along the way, but we have challenged ourselves with our schedule," said Roff. "We have learned a great deal about our team during the first part of the season. Now is the time to put the pieces together and get after it."

The Bulldogs are 4-6-0 this season after a 2-1 loss to Louisville (Sept. 20), while the Eagles are coming off a 2-1 loss to Ohio (Sept. 18), going 3-5-1 overall. Illinois State leads the all-time series against Butler, 3-2-0. The last time the two teams met was on Sept. 21, 2008, when Illinois State won, 2-0.

For the first time in program history, Illinois State will face Morehead State in Kentucky. Illinois State leads the all-time series against Morehead State, 2-0-0, with all past games being in Normal, Ill. The last time the two teams met was Sept. 24, 2008, when Illinois State won, 2-1.
