Redbirds Claim Precious Valley Road Win, 82-63

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Freshman Jackie Carmichael tossed in a career-best 20 points and Osiris Eldridge added 18, as Illinois State rolled to an 82-63 win in Missouri Valley Conference action at Roberts Stadium Wednesday night, after opening the game with a 21-7 run.

With the win, Illinois State improved to 12-3 overall and 3-1 in the Valley. Evansville fell to 6-8 and 0-4, respectively.

It was all Redbirds in the first half, as Illinois State built a 42-25 lead at the intermission. At one point in the first half, ISU led by 23 points thanks to 15 first-half points by Carmichael. The Redbirds held Evansville to 23.3 percent shooting in the first 20 minutes.

Lloyd Phillips added 11 points and nine assists, while Tony Lewis came off the bench to score 10 points.

Illinois State returns home for a two-game homestand beginning Saturday against Northern Iowa. The game, which tips at 3:02 p.m., will be televised nationally on ESPN2 and has been declared a "Red Out."
