Oct. 24, 2010

NORMAL, Ill. - After competing in four tournaments, the Illinois State men's golf team prepares to conclude the 2010 fall season at the 2010 Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate in Las Cruces, N.M., at the New Mexico State Golf Course Monday and Tuesday.

The three-round tournament will begin at 9:00 a.m. (cst), both Monday and Tuesday, with 36 holes in day one and 18 in day two.

Traveling to New Mexico for the Redbirds will be seniors Jeff Kellen and Will Cullen, junior Jeff Meier, sophomore Ryan Murphy and freshman Wils Hawn.

"Our group is ready to go, and I know the five guys want to finish off the fall on a strong note," head coach Ray Kralis said. "It will be key that we stay patient and mentally tough because this group is capable of getting hot at any time. I've got a good feeling about this team on this course and am excited to get it started."

The Redbirds are included in the 15-team field, contending against New Mexico State, Washington State, UNLV, Texas State, Kansas, Idaho, Boise State, Nebraska, Air Force, Utah, UTEP, Wichita State, Weber State and Western New Mexico.

The New Mexico State Golf Course is a 7,003 yard, par-72 configuration.

Round-by-round results will be made available at the conclusion of each round.
