NORMAL, Ill. -
Illinois State men's and women's basketball single-game tickets for the 2010-11 season will officially go on sale Nov. 1 at 9 a.m. Tickets will be available at the Redbird Arena Ticket Office, by phone (309/438-8000), or on GoRedbirds.com.
With seven players who have never played in an NCAA Division I basketball game, ISU men's basketball head coach Tim Jankovich and his staff will continue to try to acclimate this inexperienced Redbird team prior to the start of the season. Picked to finish sixth in the annual Missouri Valley Conference Preseason Poll, the Redbirds return two starters and seven letterwinners from last season's 22-11 team.
The Redbirds will an exhibition game Nov. 10 against Quincy, before opening the season Sunday, Nov. 14 against SIU Edwardsville.
The Redbird women's basketball team, under the guidance of first-year head coach Stephanie Glance, was projected to finish fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference Preseason Poll at the conference's annual media day. The Redbirds are the three-time defending conference regular season champion and have won at least 13 Valley games in each of the last four years.
ISU opens the season against in-state rival Illinois Nov. 12. The Redbirds and Fighting Illini played twice last season, with Illinois claiming the regular-season match up and Illinois State winning in the quarterfinals of the WNIT. The Redbirds will then begin the home portion of the schedule with back-to-back home games follow against in-state opponents Eastern Illinois (Nov. 18) and SIU Edwardsville (Nov. 20).
