NORMAL, Ill. -
Illinois State head basketball coach Tim Jankovich announced Tuesday that freshman Jordan Threloff has opted to redshirt the 2010-11 season.
"Jordan has elected to redshirt this year," Jankovich said. "We are very high on him and feel he would be a strong contributor to our team this year, however this is a great move for him personally by trading his freshman year for a fifth year. We think he will have an outstanding career."
Threloff, from DeKalb, Ill., is a 6-foot-10, 255-pound center. He played six minutes in Illinois State's 80-70 exhibition win over Quincy on Nov. 10. He finished with two points and a steal. Obviously, he did not see any time in Sunday's season-opener against SIU Edwardsville, to maintain his redshirt status.
