SIUE was productive on the offensive end in the second half, despite Duncan's 10-minute stint on the bench with foul trouble. The Redbirds outrebounded the Cougars 38-30, led by Shelton's nine boards.
The Redbirds will take the court again Wednesday in Brookings, S.D., against the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State. Tip time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
