For the first time in several years, the Illinois State men's basketball radio broadcasts will play in Peoria, Ill., as the ISU Athletics Department reached an agreement with Advanced Media Partners, LLC, and WZPN 96.5 FM ESPN will carry 12 Redbird games this season.
"We are thrilled to have Redbird basketball available once again in Peoria, for our alumni and fans in the area," ISU Director of Athletics Dr. Sheahon Zenger said. "I'm also grateful to J.R. Greeley and the entire staff at Advanced Media Partners for helping to make this partnership happen, and hopefully this is the first of many years to come."
The games 96.5 ESPN will carry include: Quincy (Nov. 10), Tennessee State (Nov. 17), UNLV (Dec. 1), Ohio (Dec. 8), Creighton (Dec. 29), Indiana State (Jan. 4), Northern Iowa (Jan. 12 and Feb. 2), Bradley (Jan. 26 and Feb. 22), Drake (Jan. 30) and Missouri State (Feb. 12).
"As central Illinois' only all sports Radio station, 96.5 ESPN (WZPN-FM) is proud to bring Redbird basketball to sports fans in the greater Peoria area," said Greeley, the vice president and market manager of Advanced Media Partners, LLC.
Other Redbird Radio Network stations include WJBC-AM 1230 and FM 93.7 in Bloomington (flagship), WFMB-AM 1450 in Springfield and WDZ-AM 1050 in Decatur, while negotiations with other stations throughout the state are ongoing.
