For the first time in his career, Illinois State senior Dinma Odiakosa was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.
For the week, Odiakosa averaged 17.5 points and 10 rebounds per game, while guiding the Redbirds to a 1-1 record. Against Bradley, last Saturday, he collected a career-best 25 points, on 9-for-12 shooting, while adding 12 rebounds, including eight offensive boards.
In the two games last week, Odiakosa shot 72.2 percent from the floor and added three blocked shots.
Odiakosa and the Redbirds return to action Wednesday night, when they travel to Terre Haute, Ind., to face Indiana State at 6 p.m. CST.
