Bracey Wins Third MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week Award

ST. LOUIS - Illinois State senior forward Ashleen Bracey was named the Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week for the third time this season, as announced by Commissioner Doug Elgin Wednesday. Bracey has won the MVC Player and Scholar-Athlete of the Week awards in the same week three times this year.

Bracey helped ISU extend its winning streak to 11 games with a pair of victories, leading the team in scoring (22.0 ppg), rebounding (7.0 rpg) and field goal percentage (.621). She logged her sixth double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds against Wichita State. She also tied her season-high with three blocks. She then scored a career-high 26 points for the second time this season against Missouri State, making a career-high 11 field goals. Bracey also became the 25th player in Illinois State history to score 1,000 points in her career.

A criminal justice sciences major, Bracey has a 3.44 cumulative grade-point average (GPA).

To qualify for Prairie Farms/Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week laurels, student-athletes must carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20, completed at least one academic year at a Valley institution and must be at least a sophomore in academic standing. Redshirt freshmen and first-year junior college transfers are not eligible. In addition to the academic qualifications, student-athletes will be evaluated on their athletic performance for a one-week period.
