Baseball Alters Weekend Slate Against Central Michigan

March 17, 2010

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State baseball team has altered its home-opening weekend slate against Central Michigan at Duffy Bass Field due to anticipated precipitation Saturday afternoon, as announced by the baseball office. The Redbirds will open the four-game series against the Chippewas with a doubleheader Friday at 1 p.m.

Illinois State (6-8, 0-0 MVC) was originally scheduled to play one game against Central Michigan (5-6, 0-0 MAC) Friday, meet in a doubleheader Saturday, and then close the series with a single game Sunday, but the doubleheader was shifted to account for the threat of poor weather. The Redbirds and Chippewas will play a seven-inning contest in game one on Friday and play nine innings in the night cap.

The two teams will still attempt to play every day of the weekend, with both the Saturday and Sunday contests starting at 1 p.m. Every Sunday at Duffy Bass Field is a Reggie's Kids Club day, with members receiving free admission to the game and all children are allowed to run the bases after the contest.
