IOWA CITY, Iowa -
The Illinois State softball game scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at the Bob Pearl Softball Field against Iowa has been cancelled due to rain and poor field conditions. The Redbirds and the Hawkeyes will not make up the game.
Illinois State and Iowa competed earlier this season at the Littlewood Classic in Tempe, Ariz. (Feb 20). In the game, the Hawkeyes defeated the Redbirds, 7-1.
ISU will return to action Saturday and Sunday when it opens its 2010 home schedule and begins Missouri Valley Conference play with a three-game series against Wichita State at the Marian Kneer Softball Stadium. The first pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is slated for noon.
