NORMAL, Ill. -
The Illinois State women's tennis team is set to compete against Saint Louis on Sunday March 28, at the Evergreen Racquet Club. After a clean sweep over Bradley on Friday, head coach Chris Hoover hopes to carry the team's momentum through the end of the weekend.
"Saint Louis will be our last non-conference match and we're looking forward to it," Hoover said. "We're probably going to mix-up our doubles line-up for the last time before the heat of the conference starts and then we will try to set our line-up for when conference play starts to get intense. Overall the team is looking forward to keep playing."
Illinois State holds a 10-4 record for the spring season and is 1-0 in conference play. The Redbird's took victories in all singles positions in two-sets during Friday's match against Bradley. Sophomore Hannah Esker swept Kennedy Scott, 6-0, 6-0, at the No.5 singles court helping her to continue on a five-match winning streak. Esker now holds a 10-3 dual singles record on the season.
The last time Illinois State and Saint Louis met was on March 27, 2008 when the Redbird's claimed the doubles point to secure the win over Saint Louis, 4-3. Saint Louis is 10-6 overall this season after a loss against Xavier, 4-3.
Play is set to begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Live stats for Sunday's match-up can be found at the link below.
