Illinois State softball coach Melinda Fischer and her staff have announced dates for the Redbird softball summer softball clinics. A downloadable form for each clinic can be found by clicking on the links on the softball homepage of the Illinois State Athletics Web site at GoRedbirds.com.
The all purpose day camp, which is available for second through eighth graders, will be held Wednesday, June 8, with instruction given by Fischer, Tina Kramos and Shannon Nicholson. All clinic participants will receive a camp T-shirt and lunch.
The junior high and high school hitting and pitching clinics will be separated into four sessions. The junior high pitching and hitting clinics will be held June 9, at the Marian Kneer Softball Stadium on Illinois State's campus. The pitching clinic for participants in sixth through eighth grade will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by a hitting clinic for participants of the same age group from 1-4 p.m. A high school pitching clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, and will be followed by a hitting clinic for the same age group from 1-4 p.m., June 22.
Cost for the hitting and pitching clinic is $130 per clinic or $230 for both clinics. The registration fee includes insurance for participants. The deadline to register for the junior high hitting and pitching clinics is Friday, June 4, while the deadline for high school hitting and pitching clinics is Friday, June 18th.
"The Next Level" Clinic will be held on June 15, 2010, and will help participants develop fundamental skills that will help them become a successful softball player, while receiving a weight room orientation. Coach Fischer and her assistant coaches, along with volunteer assistant coach Bill Dickson and strength and conditioning coach Chris Carter will conduct the clinic. Each participant will receive a camp T-shirt and lunch.
"The Next Level" Clinic is an all-day camp and is open to high school age girls. Check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m., on June 15, at the Marian Kneer Softball Stadium and will be followed by various instructional lessons throughout the day, along with a scrimmage to focus on game situations. The clinic will end at 6 p.m.
The Redbird Developmental Clinic costs $130, which includes lunch. The deadline to register is June 4.
