LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -
Illinois State senior Kyle Bragg is tied for 13th place after he fired an even-par 144 (72-72) on the first day at the UALR/First Tee Collegiate Classic. His effort has led the Redbirds into a tie for eighth place in the 18-team field after the team carded a 14-over-par 590 (294-296) Monday.
"We had a nice day," head coach Ray Kralis said. "When you go into that second round you're looking to make a move and we had a couple of really nice rounds in the afternoon. Eric (Meier) came back strong and Kyle paced us for the day with two solid rounds and I think everybody is ready to get back out there tomorrow. It's going to take a strong team effort to make a move and we have a group that can do it. Hopefully we can get a few good things to happen tomorrow and move up in the standings."
Junior Jeff Kellen and sophomore Eric Meier are tied for 30th place after each posted a 5-over-par 149. Meier rebounded from a tough first round when he shot a 79 to card a 70 in the second round. Sophomore Will Cullen is tied for 67th place with a 10-over-par 154 (75-79). Senior Tommy Bliefnick is tied for 74th place after shooting an 11-over-par 155 (73-82).
Missouri is in the lead with an impressive 4-under-par 572 (293-279). Southeastern Louisiana is in second place after firing a 2-under-par 574 (288-286). Central Arkansas rounded out the top-three posting an even-par 576 (289-287).
Stuart Ballingall of Missouri has taken a commanding lead after firing a 12-under-par 132 (69-63). Philipp Fendt of Louisiana-Lafayette is in second place at 5-under-par 139 (69-70). There is a six-way tie for third place with a players finishing at 3-under-par.
Tuesday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
