Women's Golf Prepares for Rebel Intercollegiate

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State women's golf team will compete in the Rebel Intercollegiate April 2-4. The 20-team tournament is hosted by University of Mississippi and will take place at the par-72 Ole Miss Golf Club. The three-day event will consist of 54-holes, with 18-holes being played each day.

The `Birds hope their week of outdoor practice in Portugal will pay off and earn them their first win of the season. This is the first time the team has competed since returning from their spring break trip two-weeks ago.

"We are very excited to get back into action this weekend," said head coach Darby Sligh. "I feel that we are well prepared after being blessed with good weather these past few weeks in order to get to where we want to be."

ISU's line-up will include seniors Stacey Miller, Laura Harris, Britt Knutson and Marisa Milligan, along with junior Terra Miller.

"I'm looking for solid performances from all five of these Redbirds," Sligh said. "We need hot putters the remainder of this spring. If there's an event to break through, this would be the event to turn things around."

The tournament begins Friday with tee-times at 8:00 a.m. The event will continue on Saturday with tee-times at 8:00 a.m. and will conclude on Sunday with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
