NORMAL, Ill. -
Illinois State junior guard Alex Rubin underwent surgery Wednesday to repair his pelvic floor, which is commonly incorrectly referred to as a sports hernia, and will be sidelined three to four weeks.
Rubin, who played in 33 games last season, started the final 31 games of the 2009-10 campaign. He averaged a career-best 4.9 points per game, while dishing out 2.1 assists per contest. He led the Redbirds in three-point accuracy with a 36.5 percentage from beyond the arc.
As a result of the surgery, Rubin will miss the majority of Illinois State's individual workouts, but is expected to be full-strength well before the start of fall practice.
