NORMAL, Ill. -
The Illinois State Athletics Department will hit the road this spring with its Spread the Red Caravan series and will make stops throughout the state of Illinois to reconnect with fans, alumni and supporters of Redbird Athletics.
Spread The Red Caravans bring the ISU athletics department to the community, with coaches and staff on hand to interact and answer questions. Three dates have been finalized for this May and Doug Banks, ISU Associate Athletics Director for Development, is excited to begin this year's caravan after making stops last spring in Springfield, Joliet and Rockford.
"We are excited to hit the road with our Spread the Red Caravans again this spring," Banks said. "We will always have a grass-roots philosophy regarding relationship-building and our vision for Illinois State Athletics. Our hope is that the Spread the Red Caravans become a special tradition at Illinois State. The caravan events are a great opportunity for donors, fans and alumni to meet and visit with various Redbird coaches and student-athletes."
This year's slate kicks off at The Stretch Bar & Grill (3485 N. Clark) Thursday, May 13, and will then move to Pontiac for a May 20 caravan at Bernardi's II (123 North Mill St.). The final stop in the month will take place on May 27 at the Dublin Pub (2413 S. Macarthur Blvd.) in Springfield. All of the events are free and will take place 5:30-7 p.m., with limited appetizers and a cash bar available at each stop.
To assist with food orders for each event, please RSVP for any of this year's caravan stops by contacting Tracie Brown at (309) 438-3636 or tjbrown3@ilstu.edu.
