2010 ISU Athletics Hall of Fame Class Announced

NORMAL, Ill. - The 2010 Illinois State Athletics Hall of Fame class was officially announced Friday, as Ryan Duncheon (baseball), the Redbirds' single-season and career home run champion and only three-time first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection; Christian Goy (cross country/track and field), an NCAA Champion, a three-time All-American and an eight-time Valley champion; Boomer Grigsby (football), an consensus All-American, a three-time conference defensive player of the year and a three-time national finalist for defensive player of the year; Heather Stella (softball), Illinois State's first two-time All-American, the 1999 Valley Player of the Year and a three-time All-Valley selection; and Evan Strawn (tennis), a four-time Illinois Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IAAC) singles champion and two-time doubles champion; will each become members of the Redbird Hall of Fame.

In addition to the 2010 Hall of Fame class, long-time officials observer Wayne Meece will be honored with the Campbell "Stretch" Miller Award. The award is named for Campbell Miller, a former Redbird student-athlete who went on to broadcast Illinois State games in the 1940s before joining the St. Louis Cardinals broadcasting team. The award named in his honor celebrates the contributions of those whose main services were not playing or coaching, but were important to the program's success.

The honorees will be officially introduced during the Hall of Fame banquet at 8 a.m. Oct. 16 in the Brown Ballroom of the Bone Student Center on the Illinois State University campus. The class will also be recognized during halftime of the Illinois State-North Dakota State football game later that day. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
