The Redbirds opened play by claiming victories in each doubles match. Finishing first on the court was Lech and Ariane Maack with a defeat over Ashton Schwerin and Pin Sorenson at the No. 2 court, 8-2. Following in their footsteps was Hannah Esker and Carmen Peters with a win over Aleksandra Dzakula and Carolyn Caire at the No. 3 position, 8-3. "I'm glad how we came out and played (Saturday)," head coach Chris Hoover said. "I'm real happy with the way doubles played. We took our foot off the gas a bit in one and three singles, but we still won. I'm a little concerned about Aniko and Ariane right now but hopefully they'll find their way here soon. All in all, it was a good match and we look forward to (Sunday)."
