Sheila Roux Joins ISU Women's Basketball Staff

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State head women's basketball coach Stephanie Glance has added the first assistant coach to her staff, announcing the hiring of Sheila Roux Wednesday. Roux will serve as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Illinois State.

"Sheila brings enthusiasm and experience to the coaching staff," Glance said. "My first priority in hiring a staff was to secure a recruiter who is familiar with Illinois and the surrounding area. Sheila fits that description perfectly. She will be a great role model and coach for our players. I am excited that she will be joining our Redbird family!"

A basketball coach for a decade, Roux is familiar with Illinois State and is excited to continue the winning tradition.

"Illinois State has an unbelievable program and university," Roux said. "With all of the success this program has enjoyed, both recently and in the history of women's basketball, coaching here is a tremendous opportunity. Coach Glance and the ISU administration know what it takes to win and build a successful program. I am excited to be a part of the newest chapter."

Roux spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach at Wisconsin-Milwuakee, helping guide the Panthers to a record of 59-67 and mentoring five All-Horizon League selections and two-time Horizon League Player of the Year Traci Edwards.

Prior to her stint at Milwaukee, Roux spent a season as the interim head coach at her alma mater Minnesota-Crookston. A four-year letterwinner for the Eagles (1995-2000), s was a volunteer assistant coach during the 2000-01 season.

Roux spent two seasons as an assistant coach at UW-Parkside from 2003-05. In 2005, the Rangers set a school record with 20 wins and made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. Roux was a graduate assistant at South Dakota State from 2001-03. A member of Division II at the time, the Jackrabbits posted an overall record of 60-11, won the 2003 Division II National Championship and reached the NCAA Tournament Semifinals in 2002.

Roux earned an undergraduate degrees in sports recreation and management, and information networking management from Crookston and has a master's degree in athletic administration from South Dakota State.
