NORMAL, Ill. -
Illinois State head women's basketball coach Stephanie Glance announced the hiring of Cassie Kowaleski (Kuv-a-less-key) as the director of basketball operations Monday. Kowaleski worked with Glance last season at Tennessee.
"I am excited that Cassie is joining the Redbird Family!" Glance said. "She has a tremendous work ethic and an enthusiasm to learn and develop in the profession of women's basketball. She brings a great skill set to our staff. She is a person of high integrity and character. She is a great fit for our program!"
In her capacity as director of basketball operations, Kowaleski will handle team travel arrangements, video exchange and editing for scouting, summer camp administration and serve as a liaison for the Reggie Kid's Club, among other administrative duties.
"Illinois State has a great women's basketball tradition, a strong fan base and an incredible administration," Kowaleski said. "After working with Coach Glance last season and experiencing how caring a person and passionate a coach she is, joining the Illinois State program is a tremendous opportunity. I look forward to improving on the great tradition of Illinois State women's basketball."
Kowaleski spent last season as a graduate assistant at Tennessee. She was involved with recruiting mailings, summer camps, scouting and video editing. Tennessee went 32-3 last season, won the SEC regular-season and tournament championships and advanced to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.
Kowaleski began work towards a master's degree in sports psychology at Tennessee and will continue her studies at Illinois State.
Kowaleski earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science from Marquette in 2006. She spent five seasons as a student worker for the Golden Eagles, assisting with recruiting and video editing.
After graduating from Marquette, Kowaleski spent a year coaching high school sports. She was an assistant basketball coach at Roncalli High School in Manitowoc, Wis., and was an assistant soccer coach at De Pere High School in her hometown of Green Bay, Wis.
