Graduate Assistant Added to Athletics Media Relations Staff

June 1, 2010

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State Associate Athletic Director for Media Relations Todd Kober announced the hiring of John Twork as a graduate assistant in the Redbird Athletics Media Relations Office Monday.

"I am excited to become a part of the Illinois State Athletic Department," Twork said. "I developed my love of sports by going to ISU athletic events and cheering on the Redbirds. So, it is surreal to now be a part of the Redbird family."

The Bloomington, Ill., product obtained a degree in journalism with an emphasis in broadcast from Eastern Illinois University in May. In his tenure at Eastern Illinois, Twork served as the sports director at WEIU-FM for three years. His responsibilities included broadcasting play-by-play for the Panther baseball and women's basketball teams for which he has won numerous awards. He also has experience in sideline reporting for the Panther football team.

Twork interned at WJBC-AM for three summers where he anchored and reported news and sports. He also has served as a reporter for WJBC's Friday Night High School Football Extravaganza. Twork will be the main contact for baseball and secondary contact for volleyball during his graduate assistant career.

"I'm really pleased to add John to our staff," Kober said. "I'm anxious to witness his contributions to the department, as we continue to transition our staff with new technologies. John brings a wealth of professionalism and play-by-play talent for someone of his age and I'm looking forward to working with him over the next two years."
