Holloway Signs with Brno in Czech Republic NBL

NORMAL, Ill. - Former Illinois State guard Emmanuel Holloway will continue his professional basketball career in Europe after signing a contract with Brno of the National Basketball League in the Czech Republic.

"I'm so glad I got my contract finalized early and I can focus on my conditioning and getting ready to play," Holloway said following a workout with the current Redbird basketball team. "This league is going to a be a few steps above (where I was at in the German League)."

Brno posted an 11-33 record last season and finished 11th, in the 12-team NBL. The 2010-11 season will officially begin around the first week of October.

Holloway, who was the 2010 Eurobasket.com All-German Defensive Player of the Year, earned first-team all-league honors with UBC Hannover, while also being named to the all-import team and to the all-defensive team.

Holloway started all 29 games for UBC Hannover. He was second in the league in scoring with 21.1 points per game. He averaged 34.1 minutes per contest, while shooting 56.3 percent from the field and 34.5 percent on threes. He also averaged 4.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
