NORMAL, Ill. -
Illinois State men's tennis head coach Cris James welcomed another member to his coaching staff, as Branko Kuzmanovic (cooz-MAHN-oh-vich) was added as a graduate assistant coach.
Originally from Belgrade, Serbia, Kuzmanovic attended high school in Florida before embarking on a four-year stint at Purdue. Kuzmanovic played on the Boilermaker tennis team from 2006-10, in which he competed in both singles and doubles, primarily at the No.1 position.
As a freshman, Kuzmanovic was coached by James, who was an assistant coach at Purdue, and James is confident that Kuzmanovic will make a positive difference for the Redbirds.
"I know Branko very well and am excited to have him on our staff," James said. "He is a great player, has great contacts, and knows the game very well. I have plenty of faith that he will work hard and be successful here at ISU."
Kuzmanovic is also excited for the opportunity.
"I am looking forward to being a part of this program," Kuzmanovic said. "I think I can help the team meet its goals with my knowledge and experience in tennis. I am also looking forward to learning more about coaching under Coach James."
