NORMAL, Ill. -
The stands at O'Brien Field will be filled with a lot more fans wearing red than normal, when the Peoria Chiefs and Illinois State combine to host ISU Night, Friday, August 13 . The Chiefs will "Spread the Red" in conjunction with the Illinois State University Greater Peoria Area Alumni Chapter and Illinois State Athletics in their annual evening to honor the Redbirds.
"The ISU Night at Peoria Chiefs continues to be an exciting event which continues to grow in attendance every year," Illinois State Associate Director of Athletics for Development Doug Banks said. "The Peoria Chiefs staff does an incredible job making the night all about Illinois State. From the reserved Pepsi Plaza, to coach Mark Kingston's first pitch, to Reggie Redbird's interaction during the game, it's great opportunity to reach out to the Redbird faithful in Peoria and surrounding areas. We are anxious for August 13 to arrive so we can enjoy a fun evening at O'Brien Field."
Fans wishing to take part in the festivities can do so from 6 to 7 p.m. on the Pepsi Party Plaza (beverage service through the 8th inning) on the outfield concourse. Cost for the event is just $22 per person (children under 3 are free), which includes a game ticket and access to a Summertime Grill buffet and soda prior to the Chiefs' game against the Beloit Snappers.
During the pre-game gathering, alumni, family and friends will have a chance to network and kids will have the opportunity to take their pictures with Reggie Redbird. In addition, a postgame fireworks display will wrap up the evening for everyone in attendance.
To register for this event, go online at www.alumni.ilstu.edu/chiefs or call the Illinois State Alumni Relations office at (309) 438-3204 or (800) 366-4478 by August 6.
