The Illinois State volleyball team was picked seventh in the 2010 Missouri Valley Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced by the league office Thursday. The Redbirds received 38 points and were projected to finish seventh in the conference for the second-consecutive year.
"The Valley is a strong conference and every weekend will be competitive. I trust our team will take advantage of every opportunity to improve this season," said head coach Melissa Myers.
Northern Iowa, the defending Valley champion, was the unanimous pick to finish atop the conference again with all 10 first-place votes. Missouri State (86) was picked in second, followed by Wichita State (80), Creighton (63), Drake (61) and Southern Illinois (56) to round out the projected conference tournament field. Evansville (31), Indiana State (19) and Bradley (16) were picked behind ISU.
