The Redbird Roundup scheduled for October 1-3, would have been Illinois State's first home tournament this season but has been canceled due conflicts with other events.
Head coach Chris Hoover is disappointed about canceling the tournament, but feels it will give the team a much needed break. Coming off of three straight weeks of tournament play, the Redbird's are scheduled to host the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championship the following weekend, October 9-11.
"We were real excited to host this event again," said Hoover. "It's a great tournament and a lot of teams wanted to come, but between traveling for three weeks and hosting the MVC Championship the next weekend, it is in the best interest for our staff and team to take a break."
The Redbirds will continue their season this weekend at the UNLV Invite in Las Vegas, Nev., September 23-25.
