UNLV Invite Results Day 2 
Junior Hannah Esker fought hard in the Flight 3 singles quarterfinals Saturday losing to UNLV's Anna Maskaljun, 6-1, 6-0, in the UNLV Invite in Las Vegas, Nev.
Freshman Heather Nisbett, Gabby Phillips and Carolina Abello also participated in top competition matches but were unable to come away with a win in the tournament. Juniors Ariane Maack and Aniko Kiss played in the Flight 1 singles backdraw trying to keep the Redbirds alive but were both overcome by the competition.
Head coach Chris Hoover expressed his thoughts on the tournament this weekend.
"I think the tournament this year was a bit out of our league, but it was great practice for the team and taught us a lot about our skills," said Hoover. "We fought hard and it has been a tough weekend on everyone but in the end we will learn from our matches and improve as the season continues."
The UNLV Invite will continue and conclude on Sunday, September 26.
