Men's Golf Hopes to End Fall Season on High Note

Oct. 15, 2011

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's golf team will look to finish off their 2011 schedule on a high note as they face off against 10 teams at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate. The Missouri - Kansas City hosted tournament will be played at Milburn Country Club, a par-72, 7,098 yard facility located in Overland Park, Kan.

Head men's golf coach Ray Kralis believes his squad is read to break through following some tough tournaments thus far.

"We are long overdue, so we are ready to get back into competition," Kralis said. "We have been stressing mental discipline as it relates to strategies and the importance of consistently executing the game plan, and I expect us to do a better job controlling the things we can control this week."

Playing for the Redbirds in this tournament will be senior Eric Meier, juniors Ricky Hearden, Matt Hageman and Matt Solis, and sophomore Wils Hawn. Junior Ryan Murphy will compete individually.

Teams competing in the tournament will be Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, Creighton, Drake, Missouri State, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, Oral Roberts, South Dakota State and UMKC.
