CARMEL, Ind. -
On a windy, and rainy afternoon, the Illinois State women's golf team shot their lowest combined score of the tournament on their way to an eleventh place finish at the IU Fall Invitational at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.
Head Coach Darby Sligh was encouraged from what she saw in her team's best effort of the tournament.
"Today's round in the pouring rain was a complete turnaround from Monday's rounds in the sunshine, said Sligh. I am proud of the way we fought, but it really shows us how much we need to work on our focus.
Illinois State was led by sophomore Brianna Cooper who finished the final round with a 1-over-par performance to finish the tournament at 11-over-par (79-75-73) and tied for eighth place in the final tournament standings.
Junior Katie Jean also carded her best round of the tournament with a 4-over-par day which placed her in a tie for 29th after finishing a combined 20-over-par (79-81-76) through the three-round competition. Sophomore Rachel Powers finished at 30-over-par (81-81-84) for the tournament after a 12-over-par round this afternoon. Finishing in a tie for 69th was sophomore Carlee Cossell whose 5-over-par final round was her best of the tournament and a total score of 38-over-par (91-86-77). Senior Hannah Bachman finished the tournament in a tie for 74th after shooting 12-over-par Tuesday to bring her total score to 48-over-par (96-84-84).
