TULSA, Okla. - Tuomas Manner won his match in the fourth round of the ITA All-American Tournament at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. on Sunday. He was defeated by Florida's Andrew Butz in the fifth round of the competition.

Manner came out on top against Jonas Dierckx of Iowa, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2 before falling short to Butz, 6-4, 6-3.

Head Coach Cris James was impressed with Manner's abilities on the court.

"Tuomas has done a couple things consistently this season that he continued to do during this tournament that helped him win some of his matches," James said. "He is a resilient player and is able to finish strong."

James feels Manner's success in the tournament helped set an example for the rest of the team.

"The new guys have been pretty competitive with Tuomas in practice which allows them to see that they could have success against tough competition in tournaments like the ITA All-American Tournament as well," James said.

Manner will use the experience he gained from participating in this tournament to help him in future matches this year.

"There were some things from the second match that Manner knows he can improve on," James said. "He had a chance to win the match so if he can adjust a few things I am confident he will continue to improve and develop."

Alexander Pelaez joins the competition in the first of the qualifying rounds Monday. Play is set to begin at 10 a.m.
