Oct. 21, 2011

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State women's golf team will head to Kiawah Island, S.C. to compete in Sunday-Monday's 14th annual Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by the College of Charleston. The Oak Point course will play at 5,907 yards and as a Par-72 for the weekend.

We need to begin putting all we're learned this fall season and semester into practice, said head coach Darby Sligh ahead of her team's final tournament of the fall season.

Golfing for the Redbirds this weekend will be sophomore Brianna Cooper, who is coming off of an eighth place finish at the IU Hoosier Invitational earlier this week. Junior Katie Jean, and sophomores Rachel Powers, Jordyn Wyzgowski and Carlee Cossell round out the Redbird lineup for the weekend.

In addition to the Redbirds, competing at the Palmetto Intercollegiate will be Bucknell, Campbell, Charleston Southern, The Citadel, College of Charleston, East Tennessee State, Elon, Jacksonville State, Kansas, Kansas State, Maryland, Morehead State, Richmond, South Dakota State, UNC-Greensboro, Western Carolina and William & Mary.

Play will begin Sunday morning with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun start, with the first two rounds (36-holes) to be completed that day. The final round (18-holes) will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
