NORMAL, Ill. -
Illinois State senior Brittany Tazzioli was named Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Week Oct. 25. Tazzioli earned the award after two first place scores in the 1-meter and 3-meter dive last weekend at Nebraska-Omaha.
Tazzioli finished first with a score of 249.75 on the 1-meter dive. Her first place score of 237.25 was recorded for the 3-meter dive. This competition marked the first road dual meet, as well as the first ever meeting with Nebraska-Omaha. Tazzioli also finished first in both events at the previous home meet against Evansville.
Head diving coach Phil Hoffmann knows the honor is well deserved by Tazzioli, especially diving in an unfamiliar environment.
"Brittany has been working very hard this first part of the season," Hoffmann said. "She keeps getting better and better, which is why I look forward to see how she progresses this year."
Tazzioli is in her final season with the Redbirds and is a team captain. Last year, Tazzioli received the 2010-11 honorable mention all-conference honors.
