Illinois State sophomore Brianna Cooper was named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week for her performance at the Johnie Imes Invitational in Columbia, Mo. She shares the honor with Reece Feducia of Indiana State.
Cooper's even-par performance (70-72-74) over the course of the tournament put her in third place individually in the 86-golfer field. A field which included eight teams ranked in the Golfweek Top-100. Her first-round performance of 70 is a season best.
"With the Valley continuing to get better and better, this award is becoming more prestigious each week," said head coach Darby Sligh. "I am proud of Brianna and her play this week. She put herself in contention and was able to gain necessary and useful experience."
Cooper and the Redbirds will return to action at the Hoosier Invitational October 15-16 in Carmel, Ind.
