NORMAL, Ill. – Former Illinois State golfers Brian Anderson and Stuart Anderson find themselves one step away from the PGA Tour, as they begin play today in the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament’s final qualifying stage.
The qualifying tournament will consist of six rounds and will be played at the PGA West Nicklaus Tournament Course and the PGA West TPC Stadium Course, from Nov. 30 to Dec. 5 in LaQuinta, Calif. The top 25 finishers in the tournament will be given a PGA Tour card for the upcoming year. The following 50 golfers will achieve membership status on the PGA Nationwide Tour.
A member of the Missouri Valley Conference’s Men’s Golf All-Centennial Team and 2004 graduate, Brian Anderson has recently been competing on the Fuzion-Minor League Golf Tour, where he has compiled 15 victories since 2005. As a Redbird, Anderson played for Illinois State’s 2002 Missouri Valley Conference Championship winning team. He also finished in first at the 2004 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championship, earning medalist honors.
A 2000 graduate of Illinois State, Canada native Stuart Anderson has competed on the Canadian Professional Golf Tour since 2001. Anderson has three top-10 finishes in his 2011 campaign, highlighted by winning his second Canadian Tour Championship this August, where he fired a 21-under-par 263.
