`Rock the Arena' Scheduled for December 29

Dec. 16, 2011

NORMAL, Ill. - Redbird Arena will once again be rocking when Illinois State hosts Northern Iowa on Dec. 29, as the cover band Brushfire will return for a second-straight season to provide in-game entertainment.

The local group "rocked the arena" last season and after a great response will return for an encore. Brushfire is an energetic band that plays upbeat country and rock. The band has played shows with popular performers such as Lady Antebellum, Alan Jackson, The Band Perry and others. The selection of Brushfire is a natural fit, as one of the lead singers is Brett Gillan, a former Illinois State basketball player who lettered from 2000-03.

"I can't wait to get back and perform in Redbird Arena," said Gillan. "That place just has an aura about it. Maybe it's because of the countless hours I spent in there during my college years or the fact that some of the greatest experiences of my life have revolved around it, but I always get a sense of pride whenever I walk through those doors."

For more information about Brushfire, visit their website at www.BrushfireBand.com; or to order tickets for this event, please call the Illinois State Athletics Ticket Office at (309) 438-8000, or visit GoRedbirds.com. Upper bowl tickets purchased prior to the day of the game are only $5 each.
