NORMAL, Ill. -
During the holiday season, it is better to give than receive, which is exactly what Illinois State student-athletes did over the weekend when they volunteered their time at a holiday celebration for low-income families.
At the 29th Children's Christmas Party, co-sponsored by the McLean County Chamber of Commerce and the Bloomington and Normal Trades and Labor Assembly, over 400 children were in attendance at the Bloomington High School cafeteria for the event, where the Redbird student-athletes helped the children at various activities and games.
The children in attendance received gifts, treats and a meal. There were new attractions at this year's party as well for the children, including a visit from nearly a dozen homeless dogs from the Humane Society of Central Illinois and stockings to hold their treats.
