Senior Brittany Tazzioli earned the Missouri Valley Conference diver of the week honor December 6, after leading the way in scoring for the Redbird divers at the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio, this past weekend.
Tazzioli earned the title after two successful performances, with a score of 207.70 in the 1-meter board, to place 5th, and a score of 219.60 on the 3-meter board to place 19th. Head diving coach Phil Hoffmann is proud of the way Tazzioli rose to the occasion against the high level of competition this weekend.
"Brittany earning diver of the week is always a great honor because of how strong our conference is," Hoffmann said. "This week is especially exciting for Brittany knowing the high level of competition she was up against at the international, national and collegiate levels."
The meet featured divers from the Chinese national team, as well as Olympic level divers. The Libertyville, Ill., native has already qualified for the NCAA Diving Regionals in March. This is the senior team captain's third time this season to earn the MVC diver of the week.
