Dec. 7, 2011

NORMAL, Ill. – Former Illinois State golfers Brian Anderson and Stuart Anderson will move on to the PGA Nationwide Tour following a tie for 38th place and a tie for 54th place respectively in the PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament’s final-qualifying stage at the PGA West Nicklaus Tournament Course and PGA West TPC Stadium Course in LaQuinta, Calif.

Brian Anderson finished with a six-under-par 426 (69-71-73-73-70-70) in the six round tournament, while Stuart Anderson carded a four-under-par 428 (70-70-71-73-73-71).

Although they did not receive their PGA Tour cards this year, both Andersons will have the opportunity to move up to the next level if they perform well on the PGA Nationwide level. Players who finish on the top-25 money list following the PGA Nationwide circuit this upcoming season will be granted PGA Tour cards.

A member of the Missouri Valley Conference’s Men’s Golf All-Centennial Team and 2004 graduate, Brian Anderson has recently been competing on the Fuzion-Minor League Golf Tour, where he has compiled 15 victories since 2005. As a Redbird, Brian Anderson played on Illinois State’s 2002 MVC Championship winning team. He also finished first at the 2004 State Farm Valley Championship, earning medalist honors.

A 2000 graduate of Illinois State, Calgary, Alberta native Stuart Anderson has competed on the Canadian Professional Golf Tour since 2001. Anderson has three top-10 finishes in his 2011 campaign, which was highlighted by winning his second Canadian Tour Championship this August, where he fired a 21-under-par 263.
