Feb. 14, 2011

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Senior forward Emily Hanley was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season, as announced by the league office Monday. Hanley led the Redbirds to two wins last weekend that extended their winning streak to seven games.

Hanley averaged 18.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in home wins over Wichita State and Missouri State. She shot 60 percent from the field, making 15 of her 25 shot attempts. She scored a game-high 20 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had two steals against Wichita State. She followed that with 17 points, six rebounds and two assists against Missouri State. She had 13 points on 5-of-6 shooting in the first half against the Lady Bears.

Hanley has scored in double-figures in nine-consecutive games, including three 20-point efforts, and is shooting 56.4 percent (61-108) during that span. She currently leads the Valley in field goal percentage (.540), ranks fourth in scoring (14.9 ppg) and eighth in rebounding (7.0 rpg).

With her two awards this season, Hanley is the 11th player in Illinois State history to be named MVC Player of the Week more than once in a season. Hanley earned her first-career award Jan. 3 after averaging 18.0 points and 8.3 rebounds in a three-game stretch.
