The Illinois State gymnastics team will host Seattle Pacific, Wisconsin-LaCrosse and Ball State in its final home meet of the year Friday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. at Horton Field House.
The Redbirds defeated both Seattle Pacific (188.025-185.825, 189.600-186.200) and Ball State (193.250-191.075) in previous meets this season, but have yet to compete against Wisconsin-LaCrosse.
Head coach Bob Conkling is excited about the competition his team will see Friday night.
"I was really impressed with Ball State and its routines," Conkling said "Even though we beat them; they were still a very good team. Seattle Pacific was very impressive as well when we competed against them earlier this year."
ISU is coming off a loss to conference rival Southeast Missouri State (193.775-192.925) that brought its record to 6-5 for the season.
Senior Erica Schick tied a career-best all-around performance of 39.075 to take first place in the all-around competition against SEMO. Schick also took first place on the uneven parallel bars scoring 9.825. Senior Hannah Deutsch took first place on the balance beam with a score of 9.875. Both Shick and Deutsch tied for second on the floor exercise scoring, 9.825. Sophomore Marissa Stom took third place on the vault for the Redbirds with a 9.775 performance.
This will be the final home meet for seniors Hannah Deutsch, Emily Matko, Stacie Morris, Jessica Prousa, Erica Schick, and Robin Weissman.
"It is exciting for our seniors to compete in their final meet, but it is a little sad too," Conkling said.
The meet will be streamed live online at redbird All-Access, Illinois State Athletics' internet multimedia platform. Live meet coverage from Horton Field House begins promptly at 7 p.m.
