DENTON, Texas -

The Illinois State gymnastics team fell to Midwest Independent Conference opponents Texas Woman's University and Centenary College Saturday evening at Kitty Magee Arena.

TWU took first place in the meet with a score of 194.150, followed by Centenary and ISU who scored 191.125 and 190.425, respectively.

Head coach Bob Conkling was surprised with the team's performance.

"We rocked two events and we didn't do well on two events," Conkling said. "I don't think the team was mentally there on the other two events."

Senior Hannah Deutsch tied for first place on the balance beam, scoring 9.750. Senior Erica Schick took second place in the all-around competition (38.700) and third on the floor exercise (9.825). Freshman Jenna Bossle took second place on the vault with a score of 9.875.

The Redbirds will take the week off before traveling to Chicago, Ill. to take on MIC opponent University of Illinois-Chicago Saturday, March 5 at 5 p.m. CT.
