NORMAL, Ill. -
The Illinois State gymnastics team will travel to Muncie, Ind. Friday night to take on Ball State at 7 p.m.
Despite losing their last meet against No. 24 Denver, the Redbirds scored a season high 193.950. Senior Erica Schick led ISU in the all-around competition (38.875) with a second place finish. Senior Hannah Deutsch also had a strong meet taking first on the balance beam with a score of 9.800 and tying for third on the floor exercise. Junior Melissa Mann took second on the balance beam for the Redbirds scoring 9.725.
Head coach Bob Conkling hopes the momentum from last week's carries over to Ball State.
"I'm looking forward to competing against Ball State because they are a strong team and it should be a strong close
Competition," Conkling said. "I'm also looking forward to going on the road again so the team can prove they can compete away from home."
This weeks meet will also give ISU a sneak peek at what to expect when Ball State travels to Normal, Ill. Feb. 18 to take on the Redbirds in their final home meet of the season.
"Our next home meet is against Ball State so I'm looking forward to seeing how we do against them at their place so I know what to expect when they come here," Conkling said.
