NORMAL, Ill. -
Senior Hannah Deutsch will head to Norman, Oklahoma to compete in the NCAA Regional competition Saturday, April 2, at 4 p.m. CT.
Due to unfortunate circumstances, senior Erica Schick, who qualified as an all-around competitor, had to drop out due to injury. The all-around alternate, Southeast Missouri State's, Taylor Westrick, who was set to compete on the balance beam, will now compete in place of Schick in the all-around competition. Deutsch, who was the balance beam alternate, will now compete on the event in place of Westrick.
Head coach Bob Conkling is excited for the competition.
"Hannah is healthy and has been hitting her routine all week," Conkling said. "It's unfortunate Erica can't compete, but Hannah will do a good job."
Deutsch had a career high performance earlier this season on the balance beam with a score of 9.925. She has consistently been the team's top beam performer all-season. This will be second year in a row Deutsch has competed on the beam at Regionals, with a 9.100 performance last year, which tied her for 39th.
The meet will take place at Oklahoma University in Norman, Oklahoma. Competition is set to begin at 4 p.m. CT.
