NORMAL, Ill. -
The Illinois State men's golf team will start its spring break competition at the Samford Intercollegiate in Oneonta, Ala. Monday, as the Redbirds look to stand out on the par-72, 7,000 yard Limestone Springs Golf Club. The two-day tournament includes 36-holes of play and an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start Monday and 18-holes and 9:00 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday.
Jeff Kellen, Eric Meier, Will Cullen, Wils Hawn and Ricky Hearden look to capitalize on the two-day event, as the Redbirds gear up for the remainder of the Spring schedule.
"It is important for us to start to build some momentum from a team standpoint at this event after struggling out of the gate," said head coach Ray Kralis. "We continue to preach mental toughness in preparation and in competition, and this week is no exception."
Illinois State enters the Samford collegiate for the first time in the challenge's history.
"Our spring break trip gives us the best of both worlds," Kralis said. "We are excited about competing early on the trip, and the additional days of play and practice through the week are vital to our preparation for the next segment of our season building up to the MVC's.
Results will be made available at the conclusion of each round.
