Bachman Leads Redbirds to Ninth At Barefoot

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Holding onto her 14th place position after the second round, Hannah Bachman fired a 12-over-par 228 (73-79-76) to lead the Redbirds to a ninth-place finish in the Barefoot at the Beach Challenge in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Tuesday.

The Redbirds finished the challenge with a 73-over-par 937 (313-313-311), clinching the ninth-place position in the field of 15 teams.

"We are starting to find our groove although our scores still aren't where we want them to be," said head coach Darby Sligh. "Hannah had a great showing here and I am expecting big things as we head into Jacksonville. We need someone to step up big in the third and fourth position next week."

Rachel Powers moved up to a tie for 27th place after carding a five-over-par 77 in the final round, the freshman finished with a 17-over-par 233 (79-77-77) in the challenge.

Competing individually, Brianna Cooper shot a 19-over-par 235 (79-79-77), placing her in a tie for 37th place.

Terra Miller tied for 51st place as the senior finished with a 23-over-par 239 (81-76-82).

Katie Jean stepped up in the final round of play to record a 28-over-par 244 (80-85-79) and finished in a tie for 58th place. Also making a last stand in the third round, Jordyn Wyzgowski recorded a 34-over-par 250 (90-81-79) and tied for 67th place.

The women's golf team returns to Normal, Ill., before traveling to Orange Park, Fla. for the Eagle Landing Invitational Friday.
