NORMAL, Ill. -
Illinois State baseball announced an expansive selection of baseball summer camp offerings Thursday, including a Future Redbird Advanced Camp, Redbird Kids All-Skills Camp, and three high school showcase camps.
The Future Redbird Advanced Camp, which has three separate, week-long sessions, June 6-10, June 13-17 and June 20-24, arms each camper with the instruction necessary to take his game to the next level. Campers will receive instruction in all phases of the game in order to better prepare them for the transition to junior high school or high school baseball. This camp will emphasize individual position play, hitting fundamentals, and game play experience. Campers will work hard, but have a great time doing it. This camp is open to players of all ability levels.
The Redbird Kids All-Skills Camp, which also has three separate, week-long sessions also taking place, June 6-10, June 13-17 and June 20-24, is designed to teach young players proper baseball fundamentals in a fun and energetic atmosphere. Campers will receive instruction in all aspects of the game, including throwing, hitting, pitching, defensive play and base running. Each day, campers will participate in drill work, baseball related contests, and game play. This camp has something to offer for players of all ability levels, from the beginner to the travel team player.
Participants can be registered for single sessions ($200) or register for multiple sessions and receive a discounted rate. Camps and clinics at Illinois State University are open to any and all entrants, in accordance with the NCAA camps and clinics legislation (limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender).
Illinois State also announced three high school showcase camps on August 20 and 27, and October 29. The high school showcase camps are a great opportunity to be instructed and seen by the coaching staff at Illinois State University. Each session will consist of position specific instruction, a "pro-style" workout, game play, and informational sessions about strength training and NCAA rules. This camp is designed for serious high school players who want to find out what it takes to play at the college level. Each camper will receive a comprehensive evaluation following the camp.
